Yesterday, I had a small reception at my exhibition for my friends. Thanks to all those who came, especially those from outside Zurich. Special mention for Clive who drove all the way from Antibes in the south of France – a trip of 622kms one-way! Thanks also to those who ordered a copy of the book.

It was good to share my fortune in having an exhibition with friends, many of whom are photographers themselves. When I moved to Switzerland six years ago and picked up photography again after a long layoff I never thought I might have my own exhibition. When others had their exhibitions I thought that it would be cool to have my own but I didn’t have anything worth showing at the time.
Now I’ve had my first exhibition I need to be more focused and build further on what I’ve done so far. Coming up with ideas isn’t enough – I have to implement them, whether it’s going back to places like Cuba and Sicily, or exploring new ones like Cyprus or Romania. I can’t just talk about them – I have to go there and actually take pictures.
