In 2007 I was invited by Clive Evans, whom I’d met in a photo workshop in 2005, to join a new cooperative he was establishing – Lumen. The concept was to bring together like-minded photographers to provide support and feedback for each other. We meet annually in a different international location, facilitated and chosen by one of the members. Attending members participate not only as photographers, but also as critics, mentors and project managers for each other.
The annual LUMEN workshop has 4 objectives:

  • To produce a body of work reflecting the chosen location through the individual eyes of LUMEN photographers
  • To give each photographer the opportunity to photograph in a new and challenging location whilst learning from his peers.
  • To provide exposure for the group as a whole via exhibitions, publication and web exposure.
  • To have a lot of fun somewhere new!
