Empty Rooms

I’ve lived in this apartment for the last 8 years, almost the longest continuous period at one address. When I first moved to Switzerland in 2002, it was with a lot of uncertainty. The company was a startup and no one was sure how long it would survive. I landed in Switzerland with a couple of bags, to be followed by one box amongst office archives that were being shipped in a container. Eight years later I’m shipping 12 boxes and 3 bags totaling 346 kgs back to Malaysia.
I’m not sure what’s in store for me in future, but you can be sure photography will continue to play a major role.

I haven’t been posting recently as I haven’t been thinking about photography at all. At the end of this month I’ll be moving back to Malaysia after 8 years in Switzerland. It’s a big change which has brought a lot of headaches because of going through the belongings I’ve accumulated and deciding what I want to take home with me. The move comes with mixed feelings, on the one hand I’ve made many good friends here in Switzerland, but on the other my family is in Malaysia and my brother and his wife have recently been blessed with a son, so I’d like to spend more time with them too. I also have a lot of thinking to do on the job front – do I go back into the rat-race or do I try to do something differently? Some decisions need to be made.
