Berlin 20 Years After the Wall

In August 1961, the leaders of the German Democratic Republic erected a barrier in Berlin to prevent emigration to the West. After 28 years and at least 98 people killed attempting to escape, in November 1989 East Germans were allowed once again to visit West Berlin which led to the reunification of Berlin and Germany in 1990.
